The VF-111T DisplayPort Transmitter core from Trilinear represents the fifth-generation link controller which includes support for DisplayPort 1.4 and embedded DisplayPort 1.4b features including link rates up to 8.1Gbps, Display Stream Compression (DSC 1.2), multi-stream transport (MST) and more. The base core includes all the required link functionality including Main Link, Secondary Channel and AUX Channel protocols. In addition, the core supports the HDCP 1.3 and HDCP 2.2 standards for data encryption.

The Trilinear DisplayPort VF-111T and VF-117R link controllers have been in production since 2007.  The latest generation cores supporting DisplayPort 1.4 are now available for customer shipment. About the DisplayPort and the DisplayPort 1.4 Interface Standard

DisplayPort is the next generation digital display interface standard designed to replace HDMI, DVI, LVDS, and eventually VGA. DisplayPort offers higher performance, reduced complexity, and a roadmap for future display technologies. The standard is backed by Dell, HP, Lenovo, AMD, NVIDIA, Genesis, Samsung, Philips, LG, and other leaders in the PC and display markets.

DisplayPort 1.4 is the latest generation of the digital display interface standard that was approved on February 23, 2016 and put forth by VESA. It defines a license-free, royalty-free, digital audio/video interconnect, intended to be used primarily between a computer and its display monitor, or a computer and a home-theater system. Its competitor, HDMI is the current standard for digital connection for high-definition consumer electronics devices. HDMI is a compact audio/video interface that transmits uncompressed digital data from set-top boxes, Blu-ray Disc players, personal computers, video game consoles, and AV receivers to compatible digital audio devices, computer monitors, and digital televisions.
